Day 4: 12 November 2017

We started our day at 7 am to Merapi. It was a fun experience riding a jeep on rocky road to get to to Merapi volcanoe and Bunker. The only thing we did regret was not able to arrive earlier. If we had, we could see the Merapi mountain clearly and got a great background. The moment we arrived, it was too cloudy. So please come early guys, to catch the beautiful Merapi. We did a quick stop at Merapi Stonehenge. Nothing much, but yes worth a photo or two.

We need to rush a bit, went straight to Candi Borobudur after about 2 hours at Merapi. The crowd was crazy and it was raining heavily. We have to wait for about 30 minutes until the rain stopped, then we start the climb. The stairs are steep, and personally I think visitors need to have good stamina to explore this site. To be honest, we didn't enjoy much our visit because there were too many people. It's hard to snap good photos without other visitors in the frame (though we had tried so many angles, run to get good spot with less crowd, yet still failed). And the weather after the rain was too hot and humid. Just so you know, Candi Borobudur is amazingly beautiful, especially the bell shaped architectural features. The view from this historical site also pleasing to the eye. Looking for different experience? Most travelers recommend for Borobudur sunrise tour. But you have to spend more $$$. Will you?

Our last attraction for today, we went to Pule Payung (fairly new attractions for exciting photo spots). Told ya, Jogja is home of unique and creative photo spots. We still have few hours, so we decided to go to spa for a traditional massage. It was a pleasant 1.5 hours; we then felt fresher and relief from sore muscles due to too much walking and climbing. We end our day, shopped for local sweet delicacies called bakpia with variety fillings such as mung beans, durian, chocolate and cheese. Then we have to say goodbye to Fajar. He got other visitors from Malaysia to entertain starting tomorrow.
